Financial Management
The successful practice depends upon tight financial controls. Proper records have to be kept and a knowledge of banking, controlling debt, wages and PAYE, petty cash, stock control and purchasing economically, NHS payment claims and end of year accounts being some of the important tasks that have to be addressed.
Team management
Ensuring that the practice personnel are highly motivated and working together in a happy professional environment is a key task for the Practice Manager. Being responsible for contracts of employment and maintaining holiday and sickness records are part of their daily routine.
Public Relations
An outward going personality with good oral communication and written skills are required to liaise with dentists, staff and patients to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
Administration
Accurate patient records and overseeing the management of the appointment book will ensure that there is a smooth throughput of patients and reduce the likelihood of complaints.
