

Nurse - Career prospects
The majority of the 30,000 Dental Nurses are employed in general practice, hospitals or the community dental services. It is also possible to work as a Dental Nurse in the Armed Forces or in industry.
In general practice, a Dental Nurse may be involved in all aspects of the practice, possibly becoming a Practice Manager or taking on the task of training other Dental Nurses.
In hospitals or a community dental services, there are opportunities to become a Tutor Dental Nurse, or a Senior or Principal Dental Nurse in charge of a department or specialist area.
Experience as a Dental Nurse is usually a requirement for those wishing to become a Dental Hygienist or Dental Therapist and many progress along this route.
