The British Dental Hygienists' Association

Mission Statement

The British Dental Hygienists' Association is the National Professional Association for Dental Hygienists'. It strives to:-

  • Promote the study of Oral Health and to provide a consultative body to whom reference may be made by public or private bodies for guidance in connection with the Dental Hygienist Profession.
  • Maintain the honour and interests of the Dental Hygienist Profession.
  • Represent and safeguard the common interests of members.
  • Provide opportunities for post qualification education. (based on the objectives of the Constitution)

As a BDHA member you have access to:

First Assist: this service is available 24 hours a day. You can obtain advice and guidance on any legal or related problems affecting you or your family. Telephone the First Assist number on your BDHA membership card - day or night.

Job Line: If you're seeking employment, Jobline is a computer assisted register covering the UK giving a free service linking you to employers wishing to employ dental hygienists.

Insurance and Finance Plans: specially negotiated rates for members are available through a leading finance company.

Travel: through a leading independent travel agent members can expect a professional and competitive travel facility with discounts on holidays, flight and cruises with many major tour companies.

Information Sheets: regularly updated

Professional Portfolio: as a professional person there is an emphasis placed on you to continue your education. On joining the Association you'll receive a professional portfolio in which you can keep all your education and career documentation, which may be presented to a prospective employer.

Scientific Meetings: the Association arranges a Scientific Meeting and supports a second one in the annual calendar. The BDHA conference always has a scientific programme which attracts high calibre national, and sometimes international, speakers.

Regional Groups: there are 12 active Regional Groups that also hold two scientific meetings each year

Dental Health: is the official Journal of the British Dental Hygienists' Association (BDHA). It is published bi-monthly and has a subscription list of 2,500.
